Stones can be placed on various areas of the body including trigger points. Heated stones encourage blood and lymph flow and provide soothing heat for deep tissue massage. Chilled stones aid with inflammation, moving blood out of the area and balancing male/female energies. The stones can also be held in the practitioner’s hands and used for massaging tight muscle areas or for relaxation massage.

Intuitive Awareness 1 and 2, each totals 40 hours home study each. Intuitive Awareness is a way of incorporating the ‘perceived and received’ information that extends beyond our five senses, transcending what are considered ordinary thinking patterns and reasoning processes. As intuitive awareness develops, received and perceived information develops. This information comes with knowingness, impressions or inspirational thoughts. The challenge for bodyworkers is how to respectfully incorporate intuition into their work while maintaining responsibility/respect towards the client. While the scientific aspect of bodywork focuses on the technique of touch (information accessed through the left hemisphere of the brain), the artistic aspect of bodywork focuses on how to touch with care and sensitivity (information accessed through the right hemisphere of the brain). Used as tools for listening, the hands touch with the intent to hear and see (information accessed through the temporal lobe). These three parts of the neurological system are considered the intuitive network and are explored further in these essential units for all those who recognise the profound impact bodywork can have on any recipient.

This is a gentle, rhythmical technique combining slow, flowing strokes and soft, pumping movements which then cleanse the connective tissue of inflammatory materials and toxins, enhances the function of the immune system, reduces pain and lowers the activity of the sympathetic nervous system. While other types of massage concentrate on muscles and deeper tissues that may worsen a condition like lymphoedema, MLDM can go where other massage cannot, for example, into swollen areas. The paradox is, that such a gentle technique, has such a deep impact.

Meditation for Health and Well Being Meditation, 40 hours home study. This unit describes a way of experiencing the limitless nature of the mind through letting go of the usual mental chatter that is generated by the ‘thinking brain’. The mind is like the sky and the thoughts are like clouds. Through meditation, the bodyworker can learn to let the clouds pass by without resistance, while maintaining a constant awareness from the sky. By being able to experience this ‘in the moment’ presence of mind, its true nature can be realised, creating calmness and serenity. Freed from the various fears, hopes and anxieties that usually cloud the mind, the bodyworker can be totally present with - and bring a sense of peace, calm and balance to his/her practice.
